Israel’s High Court Rejects Petition Against Yishuv Amichai

The President of the High Court of Justice, Esther Hayut, on Wednesday, 2 Rosh Chodesh Marcheshvan, rejected two petitions filed by left-wing organization against the establishment of Yishuv Amichai for the evacuated residents of Yishuv Amona. The petitioners were also compelled to pay legal fees amounting to NIS 5,000.

Petitioners stated, “The committee did not examine the need to establish the new settlement in the area and was satisfied with the question of whether there was a reason to deny the chosen location.”

The petitioners also argue that “in the framework of this examination, the committee did not consider the effect of the outline plan on the Palestinian population living in the vicinity of the plan, as well as the environmental and transportation effects that the plan will have.”
