Minister Wants To Give Terror Victim Ari Fuld H”YD The Medal of Valor

Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan called on Police Commissioner Roni Alshich to consider granting a posthumous honorary civilian medal of bravery to Ari Fuld HY”D, who was murdered in a stabbing attack in Gush Etzion last month.

According to Ynet, Erdan instructed the police commissioner to convene the Israel Police’s Decoration Committee as soon as possible, so that the medal will be announced at the awards ceremony in November.

The Medal of Valor is a rare honor given in cases of exceptional heroism, as noted in a statement put out by the Israel Police in connection with the report. The police also noted that in the history of the Israel Police only two such medals have been awarded within the police force.

In his appeal to Alshich, Erdan wrote that Fuld was entitled to a medal for his courage and heroism fighting the terrorist despite having been fatally stabbed, thus saving the lives of other civilians who were there.

“Ari Fuld showed great heroism while he was at his last moments chasing the terrorist who stabbed him to death, neutralized him and thus saved the lives of other citizens.”

Erdan, who is also the strategic affairs minister, said that Fuld had also dedicated his life to defend Israel by combating the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

“In addition to his actions in the battlefield, Ari also fought for the State of Israel in the international arena and was part of a network of information activists we established to show the world the truth about Israel and to expose the lies of those who boycott Israel,” he wrote. “Ari is an example and a model to us all and we should commend him for it.”
