Heavy Rainfall Raising Kinneret, But More Still Needed

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

From Sunday to Tuesday morning, January 8, 2019, significant precipitation fell in the Kinneret basin, around 90-80 mm, Uri Shore, spokesman for the Kinneret Authority reports.

These quantities resulted in significant flows in the different streams in the basin, which contribute to contribute to the water level of the Kinneret.

The various flow rates that feed into the Kinneret, together with some direct rain, led to an increase in the level of 8.5cm (3.3 inches) from Monday, and the level on Tuesday morning was 214.35.

The level is still 1.35 meters (1.47 yards) below the lower red line, and only 0.52 meters above the black line.

An additional 5.55 meters (6.06 yards) is required to fill the Kinneret as it was prior to the recent years of drought!
