Israel Removes Opposition To Qatar Making A Third Payment To The Hamas Regime In Gaza

Israel has removed its opposition to Qatar making a third payment of money to assist the Hamas regime in Gaza, Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

According to the reports, the Qatari courier with the cash suitcases is scheduled to arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening or Monday, and from there, he will make his way to the Gaza border.

The decision to transfer the funds comes two weeks after it was reported that the transfer of the third round of funds from Qatar to senior Hamas figures was postponed in response to the tension on the southern border and the breach of the peace. The transfer of funds was frozen the day after a rocket was launched from Gaza into Israel and was intercepted by the Iron Dome system. There were no casualties.

Following the freezing of the funds, Hamas told Egyptian intelligence that if the third round of the Qatari monetary grant was not transferred to Gaza within a week, the organization would gradually renew the violence along the Gaza border with Israel.

Hamas has made it clear to Egypt that the funds, valued at 15 million US dollars, are part of Israel’s commitment to them – even though Israel has not ratified the agreement signed with Jordan and Egypt.

“Israel is not doing a favor by permitting us to actualize our stolen rights. We will continue the March of the Return until we break the siege,” said Hamas spokesman Abd al-Latif al-Qanu. “Israel will bear the consequences of violating the promise,” he added.
