TOUGH-TALK: Syria is Threatening to Bomb Ben-Gurion Airport

After Israel earlier this week confirmed the Israel Air Force (IAF) bombed Iranian targets in Syria, Syria’s Ambassador to the United Nations Bashar Jafari on Tuesday warned that his country would attack Ben-Gurion International Airport with the help of Tehran’s allies if Israel does not halt bomb targets in Syria.

“Syria will practice its legitimate right of self-defense and respond to the Israeli aggression on Damascus International Airport in the same way on Tel Aviv airport,” Ambassador Jafari told UN Security Council members, stating emphatically that if Israeli aggression continues, Syria will act.

There have been numerous additional attacks in Syria during the past year, with the international community pointing a finger at Israel, but until this week, Jerusalem has not confirmed that it attacked Iranian targets in worn-torn Syria. It is quite clear that the aerial attacks conducted by Israel have receive the tacit approval of both the White House and Kremlin.

After Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu confirmed the aerial assault, he came under mounting criticism among fellow legislators, with some turning to state legal authorities to become involved.

PM Netanyahu responded to the Syrian threat saying, “Our response will be fatal”.
