Rav Dov Landau & Rav Asher Deutsch Sign A Joint Letter Aas Agreement Reached In Modi’in Illit Shul

In a rare event, Rosh Yeshivas Slobodka HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau Shlita, the leader of the Degel Hatorah tzibur, and HaGaon HaRav Asher Deutsch Shlita, a Rosh Yeshiva in Ponevezh and leader of Peleg Yerushalmi, have penned a combined letter.

According to the Kikar Shabbos report, the two were brought together by the mora d’asra of Modi’in Illit, HaGaon HaRav Meir Kessler Shlita.

According to the report, the Shalhevet Simcha NGO established by the rav’s father, HaGaon Rav Simcha Kessler ZT”L, was at the heart of the storm after members of the organization began running the Yacheil Yisrael Shul in the city, but machlokes erupted as the rav and mispallalim align with Peleg Yerushalmi while the persons running the NGO are from the Degel mainstream litvish tzibur. The machlokes escalated until calls were heard to remove the shul. Rav Kessler finally became involved, initiating a solution whereby Peleg mispallalim would remain and run the shul under the watchful eye of the NGO, which is representative of the Degel faction.

The plan was accepted and Rav Kesler committed to raise “millions” for the shul, with the report adding, Rav Kessler has begun fundraising and he called on Rav Deutsch to sign a letter for donors as well, leading to the joint letter with Rav Landau and Rav Deutsch towards raising funds for the shul.
