VIDEO: Ashkelon Experimenting With 3D Crosswalks

The city of Ashkelon is going to be experimenting with 3D crosswalks in the hope of improving road safety.

The new crosswalk, as seen in the accompanying video, appears to be floating and raised off the street, which is hoped to be sufficient to get drivers to slow down, thereby also eliminating the need for speed bumps.

This experiment follows the one in Tel Aviv, in which ‘zombie lights’ are being tested to get the attention of pedestrians who are crossing streets while busied with their smartphones, without looking at traffic.
