Lieberman Denies He Is Working For A Left-Wing Coalition Without The Chareidim

Yahadut Hatorah MK Yisrael Eichler continues to attack Yisrael Beitenu party chairman MK Avigdor Lieberman in the media. Speaking to KAN Reshet Bet Radio hosts Kalman Lipskind and Assaf Lieberman, Eichler explained that “The only thing holding up the formation of a coalition is Lieberman. One cannot go into the depth of his soul,” concluding, “unless he has closed a deal with Yair Lapid to establish a secular coalition without the chareidim and without Netanyahu.”

Eichler then used the airwaves to call on Lieberman “not to topple a right-wing government. Don’t worry about the chareidim – worry about the right-wingers”.

Regarding the draft law, Eicher added, “The Russian voters, the backers of Lieberman need a livelihood, apartment and health. Since when are the residents of Bnei Brak required to enlist? They are all talking ideology and not the needs of the people.”

Eichler then addressed Lieberman’s aspirations to serve as defense minister again. “It is inconceivable that he will lead us to war without the approval of the prime minister. This is not a dictatorship like in Russia. The defense minister is subordinate to the government and the prime minister is subordinate to the government.”

The above statement was made in response to recent comments by Lieberman, that his acceptance of the Defense Ministry portfolio is contingent on having a free hand to act and not being subordinate to the prime minister’s policies, as was the case in the outgoing administration.

Lieberman was quick to respond via the media, insisting he has not been in talks with Yair Lapid or his Yesh Atid party, emphasizing that he will not recommend anyone other than Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to head the incoming government.
