IDF Sniper Teams Win International Competition


A number of training drills aimed at sharpening the skills of elite IDF combat soldier took place at the Adam IDF base in Israel. Among the competitions that IDF soldiers as well as soldiers from across the globe participated in was a sniper’s contest.

25 groups of soldiers from elite units around the globe participated in the contest. he units came from 14 different countries including the U.S., Germany, Italy, Hungary, Cyprus and others.

20 sniper units from the IDF participated alongside the 25 international groups. The sniper units came from commando units, the paratroopers, the Nachal brigade, the Golani brigade and others.

The contestants took part in a number of different sniping scenarios aimed at measuring their skill, stamina, accuracy, and successful shots at long distances.

In the infantry unit competitions Israel’s paratroopers took first place followed by the Nachal Gadsar unit and in third the Golani gadsar unit.

In the international special forces competition, the IDF snipers division took first place followed by Duvdevan and then Shaldag.

Marom Brigade Commander Colonel Yaron Sitbon said: “The competition builds a dialogue between IDF units and their cohorts from other countries. It also serves as a n excellent platform to test the fitness of our snipers and to pass on continuing education to the snipers who exemplify the high level of professionalism, preciseness, independent work, and the decision making abilities of these men and women in high-stress situation.”
