Jerusalem District Police Arrest Suspect For Violent Assault


Police in the Jerusalem district arrested a suspect in his 20s for allegedly severely beating a woman, leading to injuries.

The report of the attack came on Sunday from a victim who was being treated for their injuries in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. According to a hospital official, a woman arrived in a taxi, exhibiting bruises over her entire body.

Police arrived at the hospital and began taking her statement, learning that during the early morning hours, she and her partner were assaulted violently near their mother’s home where they were staying, and during the attack, she was struck over her head with a stone, as well as beaten over her entire body. Her hair was pulled out and other acts were perpetrated against her.

The suspect brought her back to her mother’s home after the attack, which she left only hours later, arriving at the hospital by taxi. Police tracked down the suspect, arresting him, reporting he will face numerous charges.

The suspect was arraigned in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 10, 2019, and his detention as extended for seven days to permit police sufficient time to complete the investigation and turn over the evidence to the prosecutor’s office to move ahead with an indictment.
