President Donald Trump dramatically escalated tensions with Iran on Thursday, warning that the United States will strike the Islamic Republic âVERY HARD TONIGHTâ and declaring that key Iranian oil infrastructure could soon fall under American control.
In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump claimed Iranâs military has been largely destroyed, asserting that its Navy, Air Force, radar systems, anti-aircraft defenses, and much of its offensive capability are âGONE.â
âThe United States will be hitting Iran… VERY HARD TONIGHT,â Trump wrote.
Trump also made a stunning declaration regarding Iranâs energy sector, saying the United States would eventually seize Kharg Island â the critical Persian Gulf terminal through which the vast majority of Iranâs oil exports pass.
âAt some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets,â Trump wrote.
Kharg Island is widely considered the backbone of Iranâs oil industry, handling roughly 90 percent of the countryâs crude exports and serving as one of the regimeâs most valuable economic assets.

Kharg Island is just the tap and a little storage. No production is done there. Even if America managed to capture it without destroying it. It only holds a week worth of oil. Iran will just make other loading facilities
Rubio testified under oath to congress a few days ago that the war was over. What happened to the agreement, again, that was going to be made any day now??
So much for the element of surprise.
