The IDF has begun constructing a concrete security wall near the northern border community of Avivim, according to newly released images from the area. The project, estimated to cost several million shekels, is already drawing mixed reactions from residents living along the border with Lebanon.

One local resident who documented the construction sharply criticized the initiative, calling the wall “stupid” and arguing that it is “disconnected from reality.” Others, however, view additional border fortifications as necessary given the continued security threats from Lebanon.

The construction comes despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between Israel and Lebanon. On June 27, representatives from Israel, Lebanon, and the United States signed a framework agreement in Washington intended to lay the groundwork for future negotiations aimed at formally ending the conflict between the two countries and eventually pursuing a broader peace agreement.

The framework states that both Israel and Lebanon, with U.S. support under President Donald Trump, are committed to pursuing lasting peace, protecting the sovereignty and security of both nations, and establishing peaceful relations.

Hezbollah has rejected the agreement, declaring it will not cooperate with either Israel or the United States.
