SHAS SECURES FUNDING: Knesset Approves Additional NIS 10 Million for Food Assistance to Needy Families

Welfare Minister Yaakov Margi.

The Knesset Finance Committee has approved an additional budget allocation of approximately NIS 10 million for Israel’s Ministry of Welfare to expand food assistance for needy families.

The funding, drawn from Shas coalition funds, will supplement the NIS 46 million already allocated for food assistance under the state budget. The additional funding is intended to strengthen the work of food distribution organizations across Israel as they respond to growing demand from families facing financial hardship.

Former Welfare Minister MK Yaakov Margi welcomed the decision, calling it an important social initiative. He said the additional funding will enable charitable organizations to expand their operations and provide food assistance to thousands more families in need.

Margi also thanked Shas chairman Aryeh Deri for advancing the initiative, saying the party remains committed to supporting Israel’s most vulnerable populations and strengthening the country’s social safety net for families in need.
