Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made history overnight by becoming the first Israeli prime minister to complete a full term since 1988, following the Knesset’s approval of legislation dissolving the 25th Knesset and sending Israel toward new elections.

The milestone came after an all-night Knesset session marked by intense coalition efforts to secure enough votes for the dissolution bill. According to reports, Netanyahu and the defense minister were rushed to the Knesset after several coalition lawmakers were temporarily absent, with the final approval coming only after the coalition secured its 61st vote.

With the legislation passed, the Knesset has officially entered its election recess, which begins Saturday and will continue until the 26th Knesset is sworn in.

As he departed the Knesset, Netanyahu was asked how he would summarize his completed term. He responded briefly: “This is just the beginning.”
