Israeli security forces launched a large-scale counterterrorism operation overnight Wednesday in the Qalandiya sector of the Binyamin Regional Brigade.
IDF troops, Shin Bet personnel, Border Police officers, and Jerusalem District Police carried out a coordinated effort to arrest and question wanted suspects while conducting parallel criminal law enforcement activities. Operations remain underway in the Qalandiya refugee camp and the village of Kafr Aqab.
Defense officials said that the operation is intended to disrupt local terrorist networks, dismantle terrorist infrastructure, and weaken the operational capabilities of armed groups in the area.
Another key objective is to restore the military’s freedom of operation after Israeli forces encountered repeated violent confrontations during recent raids in the area.
The IDF and Israel Police said the effort is intended to improve security conditions on the ground, reduce potential threats, and strengthen operational readiness ahead of the upcoming Yamim Tovim.
