Israel’s Foreign Ministry issued an advisory urging heightened caution for Israelis in Greece ahead of large anti-Israel protest rallies expected to take place on Sunday.

The “day of rage” protests, organized by pro-Palestinian groups, the BDS movement, the Palestinian community, and the “Stop the War” coalition, are expected to take place at dozens of locations across the country, including Athens, Thessaloniki, popular tourist areas, and the Greek islands.

“Due to the expected scale of the protests and the possibility that large gatherings may lead to public disorder and dangerous situations, the Foreign Ministry recommends that Israelis currently in Greece stay away from protest sites, remain especially vigilant, and avoid any confrontation with protesters,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

“It is recommended to keep Israeli and Jewish identifying symbols out of public view, avoid posting your real-time location on social media, and follow the instructions of local security authorities.”

The warning comes at the height of the summer tourist season, with Greece being the most popular destination for Israelis. Almost 50 flights are scheduled to depart from Ben Gurion for Greece on Sunday.

According to Airport Authority data, in July alone, approximately 427,000 Israeli passengers flew to Greece and the Greek islands, constituting about 18.6% of all international travelers from Ben Gurion Airport.
