A protest broke out early Sunday morning in the Chareidi neighborhood of Achisamach in Lod after police officers detained a ben yeshivah.
The incident began when police officers responded overnight to a noise complaint. During questioning, officers discovered that one of those present was listed as a draft evader. Police detained him and called the Military Police to the scene.
At around 5:30 a.m., the “Tzeva Shachor” alert system and the “The Kidnappers Have Arrived” hotline reported the attempted transfer and called on residents and bnei yeshivos to come to the scene.
Within minutes, dozens responded and launched a protest.
According to witnesses at the scene, a senior officer from the Lod Police Station who arrived at the site concluded that enforcing the arrest would likely lead to violent disturbances. As a result, it was decided to release the draft evader, even though Military Police officers had already arrived at the scene.
When news of his release spread, the protesters who had gathered at the scene broke out into jubilant singing and dancing.

No, the yevanim were defeated by a handful of tzaddikim, not an army.
Not only did the Chashmanoim enlist in an army, they also established a Medina while we were still in golus. On the other hand, their army was probably a lot more heimish than the IDF.
