X has suspended the account of Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi terrorists, according to a report Thursday by Iran International.

Saree’s account, which had more than 121,000 followers, was one of the Houthis’ primary channels for publishing statements on the terrorist group’s military operations. The account now displays a notice stating that it was suspended for violating X’s rules.

Saree regularly used the platform to claim responsibility for Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and to issue statements regarding operations against Saudi Arabia and forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

The suspension comes amid escalating tensions between the Houthis and Yemen’s Saudi-backed government.

Late last month, Saree threatened that Saudi ships and vessels traveling to Saudi Arabia would become targets under what the Houthis called a “blockade for blockade” campaign, saying the decision had taken effect immediately.

“We affirm our full readiness for all possibilities,” Saree declared at the time, warning that any major escalation by Saudi Arabia would be met with a severe response.

Tensions intensified further last week after Yemen’s military said Houthi forces attacked government troops in what officials described as a major escalation that could threaten to reignite the country’s civil war.

The New York Times reported that the attacks targeted military bases and units in the oil-rich Marib and Hadramout provinces, which are controlled by the government.

At least 17 military personnel were killed in the attacks, according to Yemen’s state news agency citing the Arab coalition. The Saudi-led coalition also accused the Houthis of carrying out additional shelling across the Saudi border in Najran, injuring 11 civilians.
