Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter criticized the debate among parties in the anti-government bloc over the enlistment of Chareidi men in the IDF.
“Almost all the politicians have been arguing in recent days,” Winter said in a video he posted. “One says he’ll draft all the Chareidim, one says he’ll draft 99% of the Chareidim, one says 70%, and on the other side they say that not a single Chareidi will enlist.”
“All those who were in politics over the past 20 years, and those who were politicians in uniform over the past decade—how many Chareidim did you bring into the IDF during all the years that you’ve been arguing over who will bring in more? What did you do, other than try to make political capital on the backs of Am Yisrael while producing zero results and zero solutions?”
“Drafting Chareidim and integrating them into the IDF will not be accomplished through populism, but through hard work and building trust. Through working with the Chareidi community itself.”
“So enough already with all this false populism,” Winter concluded.

“Am Yisrael”, in context here, refers to Israeli citizens, not the traditional Jewish usage of the term.

if you look in the sefarim, youll notice that the term “am yisrael” is never used, the term in the sefarim is “Klal Yisrael”, which the word Klal, means a rule, there is a rule/are rules for being Jewish, it isn’t merely a nationalistic term for a people originating from a geographical location. The only time you’ll find something even remotely similar, is the term Am HaYisraeli, when usually describing someone as part of Klal Yisrael, or the very identity of it, then you find the words Am HaYisraeli, but the term Am Yisrael was invented by zionists, to give the notion that there is a nation of Israelites, we are not a nation, we are a religion. A nation has it’s physical geographical and many times political stances on matters, whereas Judaism is a religion, Jews from USA will have USA typical traditional foods, British Jews have UK, and Jews from the middle east eating middle eastern foods, but that is because they are Jews from that country, not because it is Jewish in of itself…
Yep don’t waste your time trying to explain this to people that always put emotion over logic, such as liberals and other irreligious factions. Without Torah you can’t comprehend anything past your immediate emotion
