Shas chairman Aryeh Deri is getting involved in the upcoming Likud primaries, instructing Chareidi activists to help several candidates who have worked on issues important to the Chareidi community during the current Knesset term, according to a report by B’Chadrei Chareidim.

At the top of Deri’s list are Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman MK Boaz Bismuth and Finance Committee chairman MK Hanoch Milwidsky.

Both lawmakers have gained significant support among Chareidi officials for their work on major issues affecting the community.

Milwidsky, as chairman of the Finance Committee, has worked on budgetary and economic issues affecting the Chareidi public, including matters involving disputes with the attorney general and the High Court.

Bismuth, meanwhile, has played a central role in his position as Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman in negotiations and debates surrounding the draft law and the status of yeshiva bochurim.

Deri has also reportedly instructed activists to support Coalition Chairman MK Ofir Katz and MK Avichay Buaron in the Likud primaries.

The reported effort reflects a broader strategy of supporting Likud lawmakers who assisted the Chareidi community on key political and legislative issues during the current term.

Chareidi activists with influence among Likud members are now being encouraged to return that support as party members prepare to select the Likud’s slate for the next Knesset.

The Likud primaries are scheduled to take place Monday, August 17.
