The Chareidi representative on the board of the ANU Museum of the Jewish People, (formerly Beit Hatfutsot), has resigned over the museum administration’s continued refusal to remove exhibits that Yad L’Achim says legitimize violations of Jewish values.
In announcing his resignation, the board member said his sole reason for stepping down was that he could not lend his support to the continued Chillul Hashem or be a party to it in any way.
Yad L’Achim praised the representative for what it described as a courageous decision and expressed hope that his resignation would prompt the museum administration to reverse its position and remove the offensive exhibits.
As YWN reported earlier this year, a group of Rabbanim issued a Kol Koreh calling on the public to boycott the ANU Museum after its administration refused to remove exhibits recognizing intermarriage and other issues that constitute a Chillul Hashem.

The English is not a correct translation of the Hebrew. It sugarcoats the message. The actual translation is …the important thing is to be a person, not a Jew. Only a self-hating Jew could have written that. Shame on them!
Who is this board member? Why doesn’t it specify his name in the article? Seems weird about the story.
Either way, as someone who visited ANU and was quite turned off, it is not worthy of attention since the museum is not even academic. I’ve seen plenty of interesting secular exhibits on Jewish religion, this was not one.
ANU doesn’t view religion as being incorrect but still a serious academic concept, unlike most secular academics of Judaism. ANU just satirizes and makes it cartoonish. EG animating Chasam Sofer with smoke coming out of his ears and a red face when he opposed Neolog as part of their exhibit section on the Haskalah. Anu is not just wrong, they’re not even worth seeing, even in a sociology context.

To be a Torah Jew is more important to H”M than to just being a person of a wordly status. The Chareidi board member of this museum, who resigned over this Desecration of H”M’s name, stood up for H”M and not for idol worship of the self. Mazel Tov Chareidi, and shame on you ANU Museum of Jewish People. You don’t represent the Jewish people at all.
