The search for 24-year-old Katriel Nachman Keinan of Beit Shemesh has entered its second week, with his family and search teams increasingly concerned for his safety after he disappeared in the Tiveria area on August 10.

The Israel Dog Unit, led by Yekutiel “Mike” Ben Yaakov, has been participating in the search for several days. Teams returned to the Tiveria area Tuesday, searching additional locations with specially trained search dogs and drones.

The unit said there is “real concern for his life” and urged the public to circulate Keinan’s photograph and report any information that could help investigators determine his whereabouts.

Investigators and volunteers have been attempting to reconstruct Keinan’s movements using surveillance footage. Video from a business in Tiveria showed him walking toward Hof Gai near the Kinneret.

According to information provided to his family, Keinan spent the night of August 9 into August 10 in the Meron area. The following morning, he boarded a bus toward Tzfas, but for reasons that remain unclear, later arrived in Tiveria.

Security cameras at the Tiveria Central Bus Station captured him walking toward the kever of the Rambam and later continuing toward the kever of Rebbi Meir Baal Haness. The last location data from his phone was recorded on the evening of August 10 near Hof Gai. There has been no confirmed indication of his whereabouts since then.

Keinan’s brother, Daniel, said he last spoke with Nachman the evening before his disappearance.

“I spoke to him Sunday evening and he was on his way to Tzfas,” Daniel said. “He said there was a chance he would stop in Meron. He said his battery was running low, and since then there has been no contact.”

Nachman was scheduled to meet his rov at 10:00 a.m. the following morning but never arrived and did not contact him to reschedule.

“For more than a week there has been no verified indication regarding him, and there is serious concern for his life,” his brother said. “We are turning over every stone. It is not like him to disappear like this for so long.”

Keinan, a Chabad chassid, spent several years in the Philippines before returning to Israel. His family said they continue to daven and remain hopeful that he will be found alive.

“We are davening and believe Nachman is alive,” the family said. “We hope the police and the many volunteers will find him. He is the light of our lives.”

Keinan is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair, a beard and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a white shirt, black suit and hat, and was carrying a black backpack and a dark brown tefillin bag.
