A mosque in the Palestinian village of Bazariya, northwest of Shechem, was set on fire Tuesday morning, with threatening graffiti targeting U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and an Israeli journalist sprayed on its walls. The suspects fled the scene.

One message referenced Huckabee following his recent condemnation of violence by Jewish extremists, while another threatened Kan News reporter Roi Sharon. Additional graffiti warned of “chaos” in response to evacuations.

Separately, Israel Police announced the overnight arrests of eight suspects, ages 16 to 20, from Yehuda and Shomron and central Israel, over suspected involvement in serious arson and assault incidents in the southern Chevron Hills.

Police also seized three vehicles allegedly used in the incidents. The suspects were taken for questioning and are expected to appear in court for hearings on extending their detention.

Police condemned acts of violence and property damage, saying they harm Israel’s security and the broader settlement community, and vowed to continue locating and prosecuting those responsible.
