An IDF reserve commander has been removed from his command after soldiers under his authority were filmed joining Jewish residents for a minyan in the Shomron village of Qusra about three weeks ago.
According to an IDF investigation completed into the incident, the Home Front Command reservists were filmed davening together with Jewish residents while a Palestinian family was reportedly under siege nearby.
The investigation found that the commander had been explicitly instructed to avoid any action that could be interpreted as supporting illegal activity and to maintain separation between the soldiers and the residents.
Despite those instructions, when the residents asked for soldiers to join them to complete a minyan, the commander approved the request and allowed his soldiers to participate in the tefillah.
The IDF determined that the footage caused significant reputational damage to Israel and was viewed internationally as showing military support for the rioters. Based on the findings, the commander was removed from his command position.
The IDF decided not to take action against the other soldiers involved after determining that they had acted in accordance with their commander’s orders.

THAT commander, the one who authorized and performed the kidnapping, beatings, and torture, was NOT in face disciplined or removed.
