A political storm erupted on Motzei Shabbos following remarks by Yoram Cohen, No. 2 on Gadi Eisenkot’s party slate, regarding yishuvim in the Shomron.
Cohen said in an interview with Channel 12 News that some of the yishuvim and farms established by Minister Betzalel Smotrich should be evacuated because, he said, they were not established pursuant to a government decision.
Likud quickly attacked Cohen over the remarks, saying: “The truth comes out once again. Eisenkot’s No. 2 reveals the truth — Eisenkot will establish a left-wing government that will destroy the settlement enterprise. Eisenkot will establish a Palestinian-state government.”
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also responded sharply to the remarks, saying: “For many months, I have been warning that an Eisenkot government will evacuate the yishuvim and farms we established. Now Yoram Cohen, a senior member of Eisenkot’s party, is saying it in his own voice.”
“The only way to ensure that this disaster does not happen is for the right not to waste precious votes. I call on Ofer Winter to listen carefully to Yoram Cohen’s grave remarks and understand the magnitude of the moment. If Winter runs alone, the yishuvim we established are in danger. If he takes responsibility and joins the united front, as the public wants — b’ezras Hashem, we will win. It is time for unity and responsibility in the national camp.”

That is Eisekot’s #2 man: rather a forefront player in his slate! Is this who we wish to entrust the future with! Eizenkot would be smart and dismiss him at once but he won’t since that really is their position!
