IDF PREPARES NEXT PHASE: Two Ali Taher Tunnels Set For Destruction As Forces Plan New Lebanon Security Line

The IDF is preparing to destroy two underground routes beneath the Ali Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon in the coming days, as Israel moves toward the next stage of its military deployment in the area, Kan News reports. Military officials said no living terrorists remain inside the complex.

After the underground infrastructure is destroyed, the IDF is expected to begin gradually pulling forces back from the current Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon. The withdrawal plan is expected to be presented this week to the head of the IDF Northern Command before being brought to the political echelon for approval.

Under the plan, Israeli forces would move back from the current “yellow line” and establish themselves closer to the Israeli border, at a distance of roughly two to four kilometers. Approximately 20 permanent military posts are expected to be constructed along a new “gray line.”

Israel plans to maintain security control over areas from which ground forces withdraw through surveillance capabilities and Israeli Air Force aircraft, including against terrorists operating in those areas.

The move follows Israel’s takeover and clearing of the Ali Taher Ridge, a strategically important area in southern Lebanon containing significant Hezbollah underground infrastructure. Kan News previously reported that Israel intended to begin a gradual withdrawal after completing the destruction of the remaining tunnel routes.

Israel has also conveyed to Lebanon through the United States that civilians will not initially be permitted to return to evacuated areas as the new security deployment is implemented.
