An indictment was filed on Monday morning at the Nof HaGalil–Nazareth Magistrate’s Court against Yaakoub Shibli, a 19-year-old terrorist from the village of Shibli in northern Israel, on charges of identifying with ISIS.

In a sign of a troubling trend, it is the fourth indictment in recent days against Arab residents of northern Israel on charges of identifying with and supporting ISIS.

The terrorist was arrested about three weeks ago by police and the Shin Bet. The investigation revealed that the suspect studied ISIS teachings and even pledged allegiance to the terror organization. Upon completion of the investigation, the Northern District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment charging him with joining a terrorist organization.

“The Israel Security Agency and Israel Police act with determination against any activity that endangers the security of the state and its citizens, and against any activity in which Israeli citizens seek to act on behalf of terrorist organizations against Israelis,” the police statement said.
