Wizz Air is significantly expanding its operations in Israel, adding 46 weekly flights from Ben Gurion Airport as the low-cost carrier restores five European routes and increases service on 11 existing routes.
The airline will resume service to five destinations, operating five weekly flights to London Gatwick, four to Catania, three to Venice, and two each to Cluj and Iași in Romania.
The biggest expansion will come on routes already operating. Budapest service will jump from 14 to 21 weekly flights — an average of three flights per day — while Milan will double from seven to 14 weekly flights.
Rome will increase from 12 to 14 weekly flights, Bucharest from 11 to 14, Athens from five to seven, Bratislava from five to seven, and Naples from five to seven. Vilnius service will double from two to four flights per week.
Wizz Air is also increasing flights to Sofia from six to seven per week, Varna from two to three, and Warsaw from four to five.
Overall, the 11 existing routes will increase from 73 to 103 weekly flights, while the five returning destinations will add another 16 flights, bringing the total expansion to 46 additional weekly flights.
The expanded schedule gives Israeli travelers considerably more options to several popular European destinations, particularly Budapest, Milan, Rome and Athens. Wizz Air says flights under the expanded schedule are already available for booking.
