Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot remains without a dedicated security detail despite threats against him, with officials in his camp accusing the chairman of the committee responsible for reviewing his protection of deliberately delaying the recommendation, Channel 13 reports.
The issue has taken on added urgency as Eisenkot becomes one of the most prominent candidates in Israel’s election campaign and increasingly appears at public political events across the country.
According to the report, the professional process examining the threat level against Eisenkot has not yet resulted in the implementation of a permanent security arrangement. His associates are reportedly frustrated by the delay and believe the matter should already have advanced.
The dispute comes amid an increasingly heated election campaign and heightened concerns over threats directed at senior Israeli political figures.
