Pro-Israel demonstrators gathered outside Downing Street in London Wednesday evening to protest the British government’s recent sanctions and restrictions targeting Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.
The rally, organized by the Jewish-led Stop the Hate UK campaign, featured banners reading “Sanction Terror Not Judea and Samaria” and “Israel Is An Ally, Not An Enemy.”
Stop the Hate UK founder Itai Galmudy accused Britain of applying a double standard to Israel, noting that the government continues maintaining trade and economic agreements with other countries and regions affected by terrorism.
He specifically pointed to Yemen, where the Houthis control large areas, and southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah maintains significant influence.
“What makes these measures so deeply frustrating is the undeniable double standard,” Galmudy said. “Where is the same sweeping economic approach when it comes to other conflict zones rife with terror?”
Mark Birbeck, founder of the Our Fight campaign against antisemitism, warned that anti-Israel ideology has entered the British political establishment.
“The dangerous idea in British politics now is that Israel is the source of the world’s problems, and that to be virtuous and moral, you need to be against Israel,” he said.
Comedian Josh Howie said the boycott of goods from Judea and Samaria would accomplish nothing, while threatening Palestinian jobs and pushing peace further away.
“This is not a moral crusade for peace,” Howie said. “This is a crusade for votes from the far-left and Muslims.”
Reform UK Deputy Leader Richard Tice also addressed the crowd, criticizing the Labour government and warning that its policies are emboldening antisemites and damaging relations with Israel and the United States.
Tice said the policy shift was a “grave mistake” and expressed hope that the government would be held accountable in the next general election.
