HaGaon HaRav Moshe Shternbuch broke down in intense tears following Selichos after midnight, delivering an emotional and deeply troubling message ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
Those present said the emotion displayed by HaRav Shternbuch was highly unusual, with even those close to him breaking down in tears as he spoke about the difficult situation facing Klal Yisroel.
“Let us return to Hashem, because the time is difficult and our troubles have multiplied, and we do not know what will be,” HaRav Shternbuch cried.
He then repeatedly called out to the Ribono Shel Olam as a father pleading for his children.
“Father, Father, Father! Return to us! How much longer will we have to suffer? You told us that we are Your children, and a father does not abandon his children. Please, do not abandon us!”
HaRav Shternbuch continued by acknowledging the failings of Klal Yisroel while pleading for Hashem’s forgiveness.
“It is true, we sinned before You with brazenness and defiance and did not listen to the voice of the holy Creator, but You are our Father. Hakadosh Baruch Hu will help and forgive us, because it is the way of a father to forgive his son, and You will forgive us because we are Your children.”
His voice filled with emotion as he then issued a particularly ominous warning.
“Rabbosai! The situation is not good! I am not permitted to speak, and I will not speak, chas v’shalom, but the situation is bitter, bitter, bitter, bitter!”
HaRav Shternbuch warned of attempts to spiritually uproot Klal Yisroel and transform the Jewish people into a nation like all others.
“They want to completely uproot us from Hakadosh Baruch Hu. They want us to be a nation like all the nations, a people like all the peoples — and regarding this Hakadosh Baruch Hu said that what enters your minds will not happen. It will not happen!”
He concluded with another anguished plea, warning that Klal Yisroel is living through a dangerous period.
“This is a time of troubles. Hakadosh Baruch Hu should help us and have mercy on us, and help us get through this.”
The extraordinary scene left those present shaken as HaRav Shternbuch continued weeping, just days after he similarly broke down during Selichos in Beit Shemesh while warning about the tragedies, wars and gezeiros that have struck Klal Yisroel over the past year.

When Hareidim follow halacha and teach secular studies necessary for parnassah and join the IDF, HKBH will help.

When an idolater like Dr. Zionist reads here that his idolatry is (of course) against G-d, his reaction is simply blasphemy and nonsense. No, secular studies is obviously not the answer. Rav Sternbuch stated that it is teshuva. He also stated:
“They want to completely uproot us from Hakadosh Baruch Hu. They want us to be a nation like all the nations, a people like all the peoples — and regarding this Hakadosh Baruch Hu said that what enters your minds will not happen. It will not happen!”
As everyone knows, the express purpose of Zionism and its army is shmad, to change Jew into godless Zionist and Judaism into Nationalism/Zionism. Obviously, then, it is forbidden for a Jew to enter that army. There recently was a news article that the Chassidic rebbes in E”Y wrote a letter forbidding even the so-called “chareidi” tracks in that army, which were of course always forbidden as everyone knows.
Drop dead you amaleki. One of the biggest rabbis in the world crying is hard out and you spit out your wicked heresy. Honoring tattooed and gay soldiers but stepping on the Gadol hador
Rot in hell
sounds more like a goyishe doctor. Maybe you should make an appointment with Rabbi Shternbuch and explain it to him using your vast knowledge and experience in Avoidas Hashem.
Here’s when: “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.” Zechariah 12:10.
when will YWN expel Dr Yidd? enough is enough
DrTorahater HAS CROSSED ALL RED LINES; HIS ACCOUNT MUST BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY!
READERS SHOULD IGNORE HIM AND NOT GIVE HIM THE NACHAS OF RECEIVING EVEN A NEGATIVE RESPONSE!
This shouldn’t be taken lightly.
R’ Moshe Sternbuch made a similar statement 3 years ago when RH fell on Shabbos.
We all know what happened that Simchas atorah and the Shomer Shabbos kibbutzim that were spared

The Eida has their shita, and the statement made is based on how they see things. There are other, Torah-based, shitos that have a diametrically opposed view, and see the Eida’s position as deeply misguided.
Calling those who follow a different shita “Amalek” and wishing for their death is typical of some posters here – I suppose wishing for the true Teshuva of those they believe mistaken is beyond them, even during the Aseres Yimei Teshuva. What a shame.

AS DrTORAH-HATER’S COMMENTS AGAINST GEDOLIM HAVE CROSSED A RED LINE; HIS ACCOUNT MUST BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY!
90%Israeli10%Yid: having opposing “shitas” does NOT allow you to attack accepted GEDOLIM nor calling them “misguided”! – ESPECIALLY NOT BEFORE AND AFTER ROSH HASHONOH/YOM KIPPUR!
THIS MAKES 2 ACCOUNTS THAT SHOULD BE SUSPENDED!
An Israeli Zionist:
No, there are no other Torah-based shitos that are opposed, certainly not diametrically opposed. You are obviously referring to “Religious Zionism”, and that is in fact idolatrous, not Torah-based, as per Rav Elchonon, the Brisker Rav and all the other gedolim.
And his comment was very much out of bounds, regardless.
YWN is never going to expel “DrYidd” because he drives so much engagement on the website.
And “DrYidd” is never going to stop posting his offensive comments because every time he does, all these people go nuts and don’t just refute what he says but also go ballistic with name calling and curses, which probably exactly what he wants and craves.
@DtK – you consider Gedolim who are accepting of even supportive of Zionism misguided, and many here have no compunctions against referring to them in terms far worse than what DrYidd used. And you’ll note that I referred to those who disagree with their Shita as the ones who see it as misguided – I did not refer to it as such myself.
@the small-minded one – in your religion, and offshoot of Judaism, there is one way only – your way. Those of us who practice Judaism believe that “Shivim Panim laTorah” – and as great as Rav Elchanan and the Brisker Rav were, they were not the only Gedolim ever – and many others disagreed with them.even in their lifetimes.
@YWN EDITOR – URGENT – the post by @KeepLookingUp is a pretty clear reference to the founder of Christianity – something that I think even those who regularly wish for my rapid and painful death would agree does not belong here.
an Israeli Yid – and proud Zionist, who thanks HKB”H for the Neis Galiy that is the State of Israel – an entity that, for the first time in 2,000 years, enables pretty much any Jew who wants to live in the land promised to Bnei Yisrael. “Veshavu Banim leGvulam” – here, you can see the Kiyum of the Nevua of Yirmyahu with your own eyes.
An Israeli Zionist:
In Judaism, there is G-d and His Torah. In that Torah, G-d forbade idolatry, including your preferred idol of “Religious Zionism”.
Those who practice Judaism and have an understanding of your preferred idol, know that it is obviously just an idol and that it is a joke to expect that anyone could seriously claim otherwise.
Those who respect the gedolim know from them, and do not need to rely on their own knowledge, that nobody of their stature disagreed with them that your idol is heresy and idolatry.
The Brisker Rav placed a paid ad in a newspaper there with the signatures of the Gerrer Rebbe and other gedolim as well that “Religious Zionist” education is a “sea of heresy mixed in with a drop of Torah”. It is really that simple. Idolatry is idolatry.
@small-minded one – you are like a broken record, constantly repeating the same thing with no ability to grasp that there can be other legitimate Torah-based viewpoints. I pity you for your small mindedness, and hope that as we said about Hagar in the Leining for the first day of Rosh Hashana, we’ll be able to say about you “Vayikach Elokim es Einav” in the near future.
an Israeli (proudly Zionist) Yid
An Israeli Zionist Idolater:
You must be misinformed if you think that there are any other legitimate Torah viewpoints on that. You can quote whomever you think holds differently but, no, there is no other Torah viewpoint on the matter. Zionism is idolatry and heresy. Period.
@small-minded one – you may want to have someone check for where the scratch is on your record. You keep skipping right back to the same argument, with no reasoning, thought, or explanation.
I wish you a refu’a sheleima – it has got to be tough living without the ability to think.
