Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a key figure in the administration’s Middle East efforts, said the failed attempt to eliminate Hamas leaders in Doha ultimately helped create the conditions for a hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Kushner explained that the diplomatic fallout from the operation placed significant pressure on Hamas and contributed to its growing isolation. According to his assessment, that pressure became an important factor in the negotiations that eventually led to the release of 20 living hostages.

The agreement followed intense diplomatic efforts involving the United States, Israel and regional partners. The release of the hostages was viewed as a major breakthrough after prolonged negotiations and growing international pressure on Hamas.

Kushner said the failed operation in Qatar had consequences beyond the immediate military objective, creating a diplomatic situation that pushed Hamas toward accepting the deal.

The comments shed new light on the circumstances surrounding the agreement and the role that regional diplomatic pressure played in securing the hostages’ release.
