Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to New York next week to address the United Nations General Assembly, his office announced Monday.
Netanyahu had reportedly considered skipping this year’s gathering but ultimately decided to attend. His speech is expected to serve as an opportunity to present Israel’s position on the war, regional security and international pressure against the Jewish State.
The prime minister is expected to return to Israel before Sukkos, which begins the following day.
The trip follows Netanyahu’s July 27 visit to Washington, where he met with President Donald Trump. Before departing, Netanyahu said the talks would focus on “all the issues on the agenda, foremost among them Iran.”
“Our goal is to maintain our security and also to expand the circle of peace around us,” Netanyahu said.
During his visit to Washington, Netanyahu also attended the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham.
