Israel believes the international community will have little choice but to establish a coalition to confront the Houthi threat following the terrorists’ takeover of the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait over the weekend, Kan News reporter Itay Blumental reports. An Israeli official warned that failing to establish such a coalition could lead to “anarchy in one of the most important shipping routes in the world.”
The dramatic Houthi advance included the capture of the nearby Yemeni port city of Mocha, which was carried out at Iran’s request and amid a lack of international attention. The development is considered one of the Houthis’ most significant achievements in recent years.
Bab el-Mandeb is a critical maritime chokepoint connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. Hundreds of vessels pass through the strategic waterway each day while traveling between Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Israel, making Houthi control of the area a major threat to international shipping.
Experts warn that the Houthis could block the strait relatively easily using comparatively simple weapons, including Kornet anti-tank missiles or explosive-laden boats, without needing to operate radar systems or sophisticated shore-to-sea missiles.
Despite the rapidly changing situation, Israel has decided for the time being not to intervene directly in the confrontation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia. Instead, Israel has begun discussions over the threat with regional partners, with the United States leading the talks.
The Israeli assessment is that the Houthi takeover has implications far beyond the fighting in Yemen. With hundreds of ships passing through Bab el-Mandeb each day, Israel believes an international coalition may ultimately be necessary to prevent chaos along one of the world’s most important maritime routes.

“Coalition”??– Previous “coalitions of the willing” were organized by the United States. Under current management, the United States rejects foreign alliances, and mocks those who contributed troops (often with death rates similar to the US) to support American interests in the past. As it is the usual coalition partners for such matters were Europeans, but they are busy preparing for a Russian attack (triggered by American back stabbing). Any UN activity would require Russia and China to approve, and if they want the Houthi to stop, the Houthis would have stopped since they are run by Iran which answers to the Russians and Chinese.– The big loser in this is Israel, since Israel has effectively lost access to shipping routes to Africa and Asia (India, China, Japan, etc.), as well as the West Coast of the United States.
