Israel is facing an unusual September weather swing, with temperatures expected to reach approximately 100 degrees in parts of the country before a sharp cooldown brings rain later in the week.
The autumn heat wave is expected to continue over the next two days, with temperatures reaching 33 to 35 Celsius in the Jerusalem hills and as high as 38 Celsius in the coastal plain and other low-lying areas, Ynet reported Tuesday.
Conditions are then expected to change sharply on Friday, when temperatures are forecast to fall substantially. Rain is expected across northern and central Israel and could continue into Erev Shabbos.
Forecasters say some locations could receive unusually high rainfall totals for September. Until then, much of the country will continue experiencing hotter-than-normal and relatively dry conditions.
