A dramatic operation was launched amid the October 7 massacre to rescue a senior Shin Bet commander who lived on a Gaza border kibbutz amid fears she would fall into Hamas captivity.
Her dramatic story will be revealed for the first time on Wednesday evening in an on-camera interview with Keshet 12.
“If I’m taken captive, it’s clear to everyone that I have to be killed,” she said during the interview.
The film features several senior Shin Bet officials, including an active member of the Tequila Task Force, an elite Shin Bet undercover unit that carries out swift and intense counterterror operations, such as stopping terrorists already en route to deadly attacks.
“It was clear to us that we had to get her out as early as possible and that she could not be allowed to fall into Hamas’s hands,” he said. “The amount of knowledge she possesses is such that it absolutely cannot reach them.”
“Before going to rescue her, however, we first had to rescue the families whose safe rooms the terrorists were trying to break into,” he emphasized. “The priorities were clear. First and foremost, we were fighting to save people’s lives.”
A former head of the Shin Bet’s Southern District described the importance of rescuing the senior commander. “An asset that must be rescued means you cannot afford to lose that asset. In her case, it would be like saying that tomorrow morning a division head in Military Intelligence was abducted. Can you imagine a situation in which a division head in Military Intelligence is abducted? Who would allow that to happen? The level of knowledge such a person possesses, their familiarity and intimate knowledge of so many things — it would cause enormous damage.”
