U.S. officials met representatives of Yemen’s Houthis in Oman over the weekend, Reuters reported, citing five sources familiar with the matter.
The covert meeting was held at the U.S. Embassy in Muscat, three of the sources said. Oman’s government helped organize the talks.
During the meeting, the Houthi representatives clarified to US officials that they will not attack US ships and that they are still committed to the 2025 ceasefire with the U.S.
One source said that the Houthis also asserted that they would not attack Israeli ships or any commercial vessels except those belonging to Saudi Arabia.
A State Department spokesperson did not confirm the meeting in response to an inquiry but said safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and preventing the export of terrorism from the Middle East were core U.S. interests.
This is not the first time Washington has negotiated with the Houthis, despite designating them a foreign terrorist organization in March 2025. The U.S. reached a ceasefire agreement with the terror group in May last year following a two-month military campaign.

Sorry, but this is foolish. The Democrats always scream “diplomacy”. Anyone with an IQ above zero would prefer a diplomatic solution to a military one. But not so with Islamic terrorists. These animals thrive on lying. They consider it virtuous. Their only power is the sword, and their words, even signatures, have no value. Every single deal made with Islamic countries and groups was violated by them almost immediately. Check the historical records. Oslo was a joke, and the ceasefire in Iran was a useless piece of paper. Yes, President Trump is hell bent on stopping wars, and he has many successes. With Islamic terrorists, this is futile. The only way to stop the war is to crush the enemy completely. Either total eradication of these vermin, or at the barest minimum total surrender.
Houthis have only one approvable end. The only problem to face is how to dispose of their carcasses.
Well, if they said so
