Selichos at the Kosel have led to a surge in the number of passengers traveling to Jerusalem by train, Kol Chai reported.
Israel Railways data show that more than 11,000 passengers used the overnight train service to the capital over the past two weeks. The service operates throughout the night and enables passengers to travel from dozens of locations nationwide.
The figure represents a doubling in ridership within just a few months. By comparison, during the equivalent period in June, approximately 5,500 journeys were recorded on the overnight service to Jerusalem.
Demand is expected to remain high and even increase further as Yom Kippur approaches.
Israel Railways is also making operational preparations for the anticipated surge in passengers over Sukkos. The company is increasing staffing at stations and aboard trains, deploying additional managers, security guards, and service attendants to accommodate the crowds and higher passenger volumes expected in the coming weeks.
Israel Railways recommends that passengers planning to travel to Jerusalem for Selichos check train schedules and available services in advance.
