DUTCH COURT APPROVES: Ban On Imports From Yehuda And Shomron, Golan Heights And East Jerusalem

A Dutch court on Wednesday upheld legislation banning imports from Israeli businesses operating beyond the Green Line, rejecting a challenge by a Christian organization that supports Israel. The restrictions are scheduled to take effect September 22.

The ban covers products including wine, perfume, tahini and halva from Yehuda and Shomron, the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem.

The Israel Products Center, based in Nijkerk, had sought to prevent the restrictions. Its representative, Pieter van Oordt, expressed disappointment, warning of disproportionate consequences for Israeli businesses, the Jewish community and Palestinian workers whose livelihoods depend on those companies.

The organization, which has supported Israeli businesses for more than 45 years, plans to study the ruling and continue its work within the law.

The decision follows Britain’s announcement of a similar import ban and a joint statement by 11 countries, including France and Canada, considering trade restrictions over E1 development plans and violence against Palestinians.
