Saudi sources close to the kingdom’s leadership are expressing frustration with Washington’s response to escalating Houthi attacks, warning that Riyadh faces mounting threats without a clear plan for joint military action.

In an i24NEWS report citing interviews with N12, a source close to the Saudi ruling family described disappointment with the American position and a growing sense of helplessness. He argued that the Houthis are exploiting Washington’s lack of practical action to expand their influence around Bab al-Mandab.

“As long as Washington does not make a practical decision, we are paying the price on the ground,” the source said.

He described an increasingly complicated security environment involving Iran, Hezbollah, armed factions in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen. Sirens in Mecca added to concerns over the widening conflict, which he characterized as a struggle for regional influence and control.

A second Saudi source said President Trump’s refusal to provide additional support had fueled anxiety and anger. While acknowledging recent progress in cooperation, he identified joint military strikes as the central disagreement.

That source also criticized Pakistan and Turkey, saying their contributions had largely consisted of statements while they focused on arms deals. He said the resulting sense of abandonment was pushing Riyadh to explore other ways to secure Red Sea shipping.

Consultations with Egypt and other regional partners remain underway, but the sources said no clear operational plan has emerged for addressing the situation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.

  1. “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” maybe they should be asking the “palestinians” to help them out. or this could be just a face-saving manoeuvre by the saudis to justify a treaty with israel. either way, there’s no rush for israel to act.

  2. Saudi Arabia told America no when Trump needed his bases in there airspace. Now Saudi Arabia is demanding that America fight the Houthis for them.

You can’t shut the door on America when it’s convenient and then demand America come running when you’re in trouble.

Saudi Arabia made its choice. Now Trump is hopefully making his. No more one-way alliances.
