The IDF has asked the Shin Bet to assist in examining how sensitive military material reached the filmmakers behind the controversial “NAZA” documentary, amid concerns that classified information may have been improperly disclosed, Kikar HaShabbat reported.
The move follows growing controversy surrounding the film, which features anonymous testimony attributed to Israeli intelligence personnel and makes severe allegations concerning IDF operations in Gaza. Israel has rejected the allegations.
The military is seeking to determine the origin of material provided to filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor and whether sensitive or classified information was improperly transferred.
At the same time, the military advocate general has raised questions over whether there is currently a sufficient legal basis for criminal proceedings, meaning the examination of how the information reached the filmmakers does not itself establish that a crime occurred.
The controversy has triggered demands from government officials for a broader investigation into whether classified material was leaked and who may have supplied it.
