HISTORIC BLAST: IDF Used 1,100 Tons Of Explosives To Destroy Hezbollah’s Massive Underground Fortress

The IDF used approximately 1,100 tons of explosives to destroy Hezbollah’s massive underground infrastructure in Lebanon’s Ali Taher Ridge following months of operations, according to Israel Hayom.

An operations officer from the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit said the tunnels were carved deep into rock with Iranian funding and guidance and were the longest Hezbollah tunnels discovered in Lebanon.

Troops found enormous quantities of weapons, explosive drones, anti-tank missiles, mines, communications equipment, beds and medical supplies. Senior Hezbollah terrorists had used the underground complex to direct fighting against Israel and were equipped to remain there for months.

After clearing the tunnels and preventing Hezbollah terrorists from returning, Yahalom troops packed the underground network with explosives and detonated it.

“It was a feeling of euphoria — a historic operation,” the officer told Israel Hayom. “The soldiers had tears in their eyes.”

  1. The destruction of this underground fortress is a clear example of the unity of Torah and the sword. Protecting our people requires both spiritual strength and decisive action. This operation shows what happens when we commit to both.
