National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir personally delivered Israel’s 300,000th firearms license issued under his expanded licensing reforms, surprising the recipient at her Beer Sheva home with both the permit and a custom “300K” cake.
Bar Knafo, 26, became the 300,000th Israeli to receive a firearms license under the reforms implemented following the October 7 massacre.
The milestone comes after hundreds of streets in Beer Sheva were added to areas eligible for firearms licensing, allowing tens of thousands of additional residents to apply if they meet the required criteria.
According to figures provided by Ben Gvir’s office, the number of women licensed to carry private or organizational firearms has risen from approximately 8,300 in 2022 to more than 29,000 as of June 2026.
“300,000 licenses are more than a number; these are 300,000 citizens who can protect themselves, their families, and their communities,” Ben Gvir said. “A weapon in the right hands saves lives.”
Yishai Fleisher, international spokesman for the Jewish community of Chevron and an Otzma Yehudit candidate, praised the reforms, saying reducing response times during terror attacks can save Israeli lives.
