A senior IDF officer holding the rank of brigadier general is facing a command-level investigation following allegations that include conflicts of interest, abuse of authority and the transfer of classified information to an unauthorized individual, Arutz Sheva reports.
The investigation follows a series of complaints lodged against the senior officer in recent months. According to the report, the allegations include suspected information-security violations as well as conduct considered inappropriate for an officer holding his position and rank.
The affair began after an IDF major, described as a commander and combat soldier, submitted a detailed written complaint to his commanders in early May. The complaint alleged that a personal relationship involving the brigadier general was behind a series of serious actions attributed to him.
The complaint was subsequently passed to senior IDF officials and led to an investigation by the Military Police’s central unit for special investigations. Investigators examined allegations involving conflicts of interest, exceeding authority, abuse of office and possible violations involving classified information.
Testimony was collected and additional material was gathered during the investigation. The Military Prosecution has now decided that the matter should proceed to a command-level inquiry led by the IDF Deputy Chief of Staff.
Once that inquiry is completed, military officials are expected to determine whether measures should be taken against the brigadier general and, if so, what those measures will be. The officer was not identified in the report.
