Yom HaAtzma’ut – Arabs Protest in the North and South

Some 20 Arabs took part in a protest vigil on Har HaBayis today, Independence Day 61, a day which the Arabs refer to as the Nakba. Two participants were taken in for questioning by police after they were found to be concealing a flammable substance.

In the north, hundreds of Israeli Arab citizens gathered in the area of the remains of el-Kafrin in the Yokneam area. They held a march in the area of the village which vanished in 1948, when Israel declared statehood.
