Chomesh Event on Lag B’Omer


Remaining steadfast in efforts to rebuild the northern Shomron community of Chomesh, a major Lag B’Omer event is planned on location of the former yishuv on Tuesday. The main event will be a major bonfire, which organizers are confident will illuminate the area for miles.
 
Chomesh First activists continue with mesirus nefesh towards rebuilding the community uprooted in the summer of 2005, as the Sharon administration implemented its Disengagement Plan, which also included uprooting nearby SaNur and all of the Gaza Jewish community.
 
For over 18 months, the committed have maintained a presence in Chomesh, despite repeated IDF efforts to oust them. They expect thousands to attend the Lag B’Omer event, which includes a march from the first community in Shomron after the 1967 Six Day War, Sabastia.
 
A major concert is also planned which will include performer Chaim Dovid and Ariel Zilber. Organizers report the event is authorized by the IDF.
