A Speech that was ‘More Hussein than Obama’

oci.jpgPerhaps Settlement Council leader Danny Dayan said it best; the address heard a short time ago from Cairo by US President Barak Hussein Obama was “more Hussein than Obama”.

Dayan warned that we may not permit the American president dictate housing and other decision for Israel, for if we do, these dictates will expand to Jerusalem and Har HaBayis.

There is no doubt that the American president scored big points with the Muslim world, working in earnest to legitimize the Islamic community in the eyes of westerners still licking the wounds of 9/11. Obama made a point of mentioning the “Palestinian people” and the “holy Koran” numerous times, making his administration’s position vis-à-vis the global Islamic community and a Palestinian state in Eretz Yisrael extremely clear.

For those who remember arch terrorist Yasser Arafat, who brought airplane high-jacking and Islamic terror to the 20th century, he would have been proud and possibly amazed to hear the president of the United States come out as strongly and with such determination for the Palestinian cause.

Obama was perhaps a bit ambiguous regarding yishuvim, while stating they “undermine peace efforts”, he called to “stop the settlements” but not for their “removal”.

The mainstream left-wing Israeli media is expressing satisfaction from the address, adding there ere no elements of surprise but does point out Obama is extremely determined to forge ahead with the so-called two-state solution towards the establishment of Palestine.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can breathe a deep sigh of relief, as the US president made it very clear, he is pushing dialogue and there is no military option currently on the table.

Conspicuously absent perhaps were flags. Aside the American flag was the Egyptian flag, and none other, despite the address being billed as one for the entire Muslim and Arab community. It appears Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is not willing to share the spotlight, enjoying his new role as the rising star American ally in the Mideast.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will be meeting later in the afternoon with senior officials after which a formal response to the address is expected.

  1. I hope bibi is smart enough not to fall for Obamas power of speech!!!
Because apparently the only way obama won this elections and moved into the whitehouse is with his power of sppech!!!(and the whole usa fell for it)so i hope bibi doesnt!!!
and we really have to davan to hashem!!!

  2. EY should do what they want!
Obama has chutzpa or should I say AUDACITY to ask more of EY to do anything. It was EY who has done just about everything in the PIECE process till now and for what?!?

Obama, isnt there another company you could take over?

  3. Thank you President Obama for making certain that Ahmadinejad wins the presidential election in Iran. The only claim his rivals had against him was that he was creating a poor image of Iran in the eyes of the world. Well…if the President of the United States bows down to Islam despite the fact that Islamic leaders have absolutely no respect for the United States then it shows that Ahmadinejad was right all along. So expect the Islamic world to collectively “thumb their noses” at Obama’s speech and it will be business as usual or chas v’shalom worse.

  4. Remember that each nation has a malach/sar representing them in shamayim and when Yiddishe kinder turn to Hashem – there’s no reason for us to be afraid of anything. Whatever obama spews forth on on his Muslim tongue isn’t worth the oxygen he takes in with every breath, as our strength is solid enough. The fact that good things happen via a good shaliacha and vice versa is true and I would never put a shmutz like obama in oval office, but he’s just a reminder for us yidden to further our relationship to Hashem and become better as a nation bein adom l’chaveroi and bein adom l’Makom.

  5. If Obama wants to perform like a circus geek and it buffers hatred from the Muslim world, then he is the perfect guy to do it. Israel does not and will not do anything it does not want to do.

  6. Despite the good will and diplomacy expressed by the President’s speech, it is not without a few major flaws. For example:

MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union): “Obama makes a shocking parallel between the destruction of European Jewry and the suffering that the Arabs of Israel brought upon themselves when they declared war on Israel.”

“If Obama does not understand the difference between them, perhaps he will understand it better when he visits the Buchenwald concentration camp in the comings days. And if he doesn’t understand it even there, then Islam will once again teach it to him, just as it taught his predecessor on 9/11.”

Regarding Obama’s praise of Islam, Eldad said, “Obama spoke more from his own heart and less from genuine understanding of the direction Islam is taking around the world. Whoever thinks that the establishment of a Palestinian state will stop the war in Darfur, India, Chechnya, and Europe will apparently soon learn that Israel is not willing to be the ‘pound of flesh’ that he wants to throw to the Muslims.”

    Just a few notes:

    1. Danny Dayan does not represent me, any other REAL religious Zionists who are in the minority {Yitzhar, Hevron, Itamar, hilltops, etc.}. I actually believe there are tarya”g mitzvos and not just 1 {yishuv haAretz}.

    2. He was “elected” right before, not after, local elections in Yehudah and Shomron took place. He was hand picked.

    3. Pinhus Wallerstein, who said he was stepping down from the Yesha Council, is now the “executive director,” and IMHO is calling many of the shots.

    4. The Yesha Council was self appointed. It is only marginally made up of people we elected.

    5. The Yesha Council is a body of gov’t collaborators. We resent that part of our taxes go to them, and want NOTHING to do with them.

  8. #4 Arizona, if could just add.. A jew with any claim of connection with his people who continues to defend or find excuses tor Barrack Hussain… is beneath contempt.
