PM Netanyahu to Visit Auschwitz on Int’l Holocaust Day

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to fly to Poland, to take part in the official ceremony at Auschwitz on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27th.

Prior to his participation in the emotional ceremony, he will meet with state leaders.

The United Nations took the step in 2005, declaring the day an international event, coinciding with the date the camp was liberated by allied forces in 1945.

Some one million Jews were murdered in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp, including much of the family of the prime minister’s wife Sara.

During his visit to Germany this week, Mr. Netanyahu made a visit to the Holocaust memorial in Berlin, presenting Chancellor Angela Merkel with an abstract work containing Kaddish that was prepared by a survivor.
