Defense Minister Ehud Barak Responds To Yesterday’s Syria Border Events

Referring to the violence on Israel’s border with Syria on Sunday (June 5), Defense Minister Ehud Barak said: “The responsibility for the events and the wounded lies with the perpetrators of the provocations and those who encouraged them to act.”

The defense minister and the prime minister, as part of the lessons from “Nakba Day” events last month, instructed the IDF to “act firmly and decisively to prevent harm to Israel’s sovereignty and on the other hand maintain restraint to minimize unnecessary harm to civilians as much as possible.”

The defense minister’s office said that Barak closely followed the events that occurred on the Israel-Syria border on Sunday and that he was in constant contact with IDF officials.

  1. Kol Hakovod! Israel has to take a strong stand. They have a right to defend themselves as any other country does.
