Christian leaders in southern Lebanon have approached the IDF with an unusual request: that Israel annex their villages and grant residents Israeli citizenship, according to a Channel 14 report.
Israel has made clear annexation is not on the table, since it would contradict the understandings reached with Beirut, but the Christian communities were told the IDF would protect them as needed from Hezbollah and hostile Shiite elements in the area.
